Finally, after almost a year away from the mountains, the mountains called me back.
It had been a long break since my last trek, and honestly, I had started missing that feeling.
I love trekking. In fact, if I had to choose between running and trekking, I might even say that I enjoy trekking more than running.
If my limits allowed it, I don’t think I would ever want to come back from the mountains.
There is just something about being there.
Life Becomes Simple in the Mountains
One of the things I love most about going to the mountains is how simple life suddenly becomes.
You don’t have to think about too many things.
You don’t have to carry the usual worries of everyday life.
There is no pressure to show anything to anyone.
There is no show-off.
There is just peace.
No constant phone notifications.
Sometimes, there isn’t even a proper mobile network.
You eat simple food.
You walk.
You rest.
You look at the weather.
You watch the mountains.
And somehow, that’s enough.
Life feels incredibly simple in the mountains.
Maybe that’s one of the biggest reasons why I keep wanting to go back.

The Trek We Had Been Planning for Years
We had been planning to do the Valley of Flowers Trek for quite some time.
But there was always one problem.
The trek is open for a relatively short period each year, and that window falls during the monsoon season.
So every time we planned a trek, Valley of Flowers somehow remained on the list—but we ended up going somewhere else.
This time, however, we decided:
Enough planning. This time, we’re doing Valley of Flowers.
And finally, from July 26 to July 29, 2026, we made it happen.
After a year-long break from the mountains, this was going to be my return trek.
And I couldn’t have asked for a better one.
Honestly, I Didn’t Know Much About the Flowers
Here’s the funny part.
Even though I had heard about Valley of Flowers many times, I actually didn’t know much about the flowers themselves.
I knew that the valley was famous for its flowers.
I had seen photos.
I had heard people talk about it.
But I didn’t really know what kind of flowers I would see or what they would actually look like in real life.
Whenever I went on other treks, I would often hear people saying:
“You should definitely do Valley of Flowers once.”
After hearing that so many times, I had to find out what made this trek so special.
And when I finally reached the valley, I understood.

When We Reached the Valley
As we climbed higher and finally reached the Valley of Flowers, the landscape completely changed.
Flowers were everywhere.
Not just one or two flowers here and there.
Everywhere you looked, there were flowers spread across the valley.
It was one of those moments where you stop walking for a while and simply look around.
I had never seen anything like that in my life.
I had taken plenty of photos during my previous treks, but this time I was constantly taking pictures of the flowers.
I clicked so many photos that day.
The only problem?
I don’t remember the names of most of them anymore. 😄
But honestly, maybe that’s okay.
I don’t need to remember every flower’s name to remember how beautiful the valley looked.
A View I Had Never Seen Before
I’ve seen snow-covered mountains.
I’ve seen green valleys.
I’ve seen forests, rivers, meadows and beautiful Himalayan landscapes.
But Valley of Flowers was different.
The combination of green mountains, the monsoon atmosphere and flowers covering the valley created a completely different kind of landscape.
It felt almost unreal.
You walk through the trail, look around, and every few steps there is something new to see.
And because I had been away from the mountains for almost a year, the experience felt even more special.
It was like finally returning to a place I had been missing.

Now I Understand Why Everyone Recommended It
During my previous treks, I had heard the same suggestion from different people:
“Go to Valley of Flowers at least once.”
At the time, I would simply think, Okay, someday I’ll go.
Now that I’ve actually been there, I understand why people kept recommending it.
The experience isn’t just about completing another trek.
It’s about walking through a landscape that looks completely different from most Himalayan trails.
And for someone like me, who loves being away from the noise of normal life, it was exactly the kind of place I wanted to be.
Four Days of Simple Living
The trek was from July 26 to July 29.
Four days away from the usual routine.
Four days of walking, eating simple food, resting and enjoying the mountains.
No unnecessary distractions.
No constant scrolling.
No pressure to keep checking the phone.
Just mountains.
And that’s something I really value about trekking.
When you’re in the city, life can become unnecessarily complicated.
In the mountains, your priorities become very simple:
Walk. Eat. Rest. Enjoy the view.
That’s it.
And somehow, you feel happier.
More Than Just Another Trek
Valley of Flowers wasn’t just another trek that I could add to my list.
It was my return to the mountains after almost a year.
And perhaps that’s why the experience felt so good.
Sometimes you don’t realize how much you miss something until you finally get back to it.
For me, the mountains have always been a place where I can disconnect from everything else.
And after such a long break, being back there felt amazing.

Looking Back
I went to Valley of Flowers knowing very little about the flowers.
I came back with hundreds of photographs and a memory of a valley completely covered in them.
I may have forgotten the names of many of those flowers, but I definitely haven’t forgotten the feeling of standing there and seeing them everywhere.
And that’s what I love about travelling to the mountains.
You don’t always come back with every detail remembered.
Sometimes you simply come back with a feeling.
A feeling of peace.
A feeling that life doesn’t need to be complicated.
And a feeling that, whenever possible, I want to go back again.
Because after spending a few days in the mountains, coming back to normal life always feels a little difficult.
And maybe that’s why I keep going back.
The mountains call, and I just can’t say no. 🏔️🌸
